THE STORY

In Cornwall, where ancient stories wash ashore like treasure, they still speak of the

Wild Light — magic that once blazed in the eyes of those brave enough to dream.

When it vanished, so too did the old wonder… or so they thought.

Until, one dark night, a desperate robber girl holds up a storm-eyed pirate crossing the moor.  Armed to the gold teeth and razor sharp with hard earned wisdom, he gives her an impossible choice: seek this forgotten magic she dreams of, or accept her gloomy fate.

Her quest leads through seas where mermaids still sing and grandmother-witches weave spells of revolution, teaching her that true magic isn’t won by force — it’s kindled in moments of unexpected courage.

This is a tale of wild wisdom and fierce hope, where the greatest adventures begin with a single spark of defiance

Wild Light is about how stories wash up from the sea — and how some of us disappear into the sea chasing adventure, connection and wonder. It’s a celebration of the old ways, the Celtic fire in our bones, and the broad horizons that make Cornwall not just a place, but a landscape full of wonder.

Created by Cornwall’s award-winning Rogue Otherworld; WILD LIGHT is this year’s Daylight Side of our Wild Double-Bill and is perfect for families from the oldest to the youngest.

(FIREBIRD is the Dark Side of our Wild Double Bill.  Wilder and braver, Dark Star is a fiery diamond from the darkness of the forest.  FIREBIRD is  for adults and those with wilder imaginations).

Between WILD LIGHT and FIREBIRD, you can choose to lose yourself in a wild light-hearted tale by day, or a fiery tale by the dark of night.

WILD LIGHT is an immersive journey through the woods leading to a show of about 1 hour and 10 minutes.  There is no interval giving time after the show to enjoy the magic at the heart of the woods and time to dance on the stage!

The total event lasts about 2 hours.

Dress for your imagination (but don’t forget woodland shoes and a coat)!

Wild princess dresses, witchy attire, rebel wear, disguises, fairy tale costumes and otherworld outfits are encouraged though not essential.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Arrive and park up 15 minutes before your start time (But no more than 30 minutes – to help us keep the car park flowing). Directions below and on our Find us page.  Please drive at walking speed in the parking area and follow the instructions of the parking faerie.
• A Rogue faerie host will meet you at the box office at the edge of the woods 15 minutes before your adventure begins.
• Follow the woodland path into the storyworld and to the heart of the woods.
• Take a seat on a hay bale (or a chair) beneath the stretch canvas in our woodland theatre.  Here there is a bar and refreshment tent, a fire and a cauldron bubbling with vegetable stew, music and a warm welcome, and even a lovely compost loo!  (There is an accessible portaloo as well).
• The show starts at the woodland heart and takes place on the stage and all around you.
• The show lasts about 1 hour and 10 minutes and at the end there is a party!  The bar is open, and the stew will be served and there is free face painting and dancing on the stage!
• Follow the lights back through the woods!

We encourage lift sharing where possible, it reduces our impact on nature, helps with flow in the car park and adds to the sense of community and celebration.  Spread the word, make a plan with your friends!

Reasonably priced hot refreshments, cold drinks, beer, wine and cider (and Rogue’s famous Wild Woodland Vegetable Stew) will be available to buy.

We except cash and card payments.

Toilets are situated near the performance area including and accessible toilet.  (There are no toilets in the car park)

For your woodland adventure we recommend you bring a warm and waterproof coat, shoes for adventure (wellies if it has been raining).

There will be hay bales to sit on (and a few chairs for those who need them).

The event lasts about 2 hours and takes place in the woodland so come prepared whatever the weather.

Don’t worry if it should rain, we have you covered with our beautiful stretch canvas canopy for the show.

We Rogues want everyone to feel the magic of our woodland theatre.  We believe that everyone should be able to come and be part of it.  So, our tickets are £7.50, £10, £12, and £14 and you get to choose what feels right!   

If you’re able to go higher, you’ll be backing our artists, supporting accessible pricing, and helping us to keep doing what we do — no pressure, no obstacles, just the magic of gathering to share wonder in the woods.

Donate a Wild Card. If you would like to donate a Wild Card, you can do so by simply adding a £7.50 Wildcard to your order and we will allocate the ticket to an unknown friend.

DOUBLE-BILL DISCOUNTS 

If you would like to see both WILD LIGHT and FIREBIRD this summer with a discount, simply buy tickets for your first choice of show and you’ll recieve a double bill discount code in the confirmation email.  The Double-Bill Discount reduces tickets to £8 per ticket and can be used for any show with remaining availability.  (Double-Bill Discount tickets can be for seperate days during the run).

ARRIVAL

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your start time to park your vehicle and to make your way to meet The Box Office Faerie.

Please follow the guidance of our parking faerie.

WILD LIGHT will run on time like the stars that align.  

10 minutes before your start time please gather at the Box Office in your group.

FINDING US

Tehidy Woods North Cliffs is situated between Portreath and Gwithian on the B3301.  Rogue uses a separate parking area to the Tehidy North Cliffs Car Park; if approaching from the west (Gwithian) keep your eyes out for our entrance on the right, if coming from the east (Portreath) it will be on your left.
